I everyone. Many people have been asking for updates on Laurie and Ella so I thought I'd better get to it. Laurie's doing much better these days. She's getting up and exercising and can swallow a few sips of liquid or bites of puree'd food (they call it "recreational drinking and eating"). Her voice is also stronger and her memory is great. She says she feels very weak and activities like sitting up and walking take lots of effort, but she's working hard at it. Nausea isn't nearly the issue it was for so many months, but she does get severe headaches when she sits up or stands. That's the next big challenge for the doctors to figure out. She's going to Harborview for an intense follow-up exam next week, then she'll meet with Dr. Sehkar, so hopefully we can get an idea of what's causing the pain pretty soon. All in all, she is getting better. Slow but sure. That's all we can ask for and it's so wonderful to see. Ella is a star. She weighs 18lbs. 3.5oz. as of last Tuesday. She's beautiful and happy and the most smiley baby you've ever seen. The rest of us are hanging in there with lots of help from family and friends.
