My Story

Laura Stiles 10/27/1994 to 12/22/2006-her gentle spirit will always be with us. In 19 months of treatment in NY and Philadelphia for the difficult to cure childhood cancer neuroblastoma, Laura's cancer could not be overcome. Though little known, neuroblastoma is one of the most common types of childhood cancer and tragically remains often lethal.

Hydrangea Days
Early in summer, the days seem to stretch before us in a big canvas, full of possibility and with abundant time to do all we wish. In the long evening, you might glimpse a fox hastily crossing Pocono Road or at the end of Southfield Road you might pause to wonder at the myriad of flreflies around you. The hydrangeas come into bloom at this time; perhaps I will think of this time of year as the Hydrangea Days.  A look back on the very special "Hydrangea Days" of 2006- click here to go to Laura Stiles A Gentle Spirit and see the July 3 entry.

Dr. Maris and the team at CHOP have published again, this time in Nature, finding more pieces of the puzzle that is neuroblastoma. The words hit home-many new pieces of the puzzle have been found in just the last two years. More effective interventions and treatments still remain elusive, but perhaps these new discoveries will open the avenues to new treatments so that one day more children with neuroblastoma will survive.

Did you see in the google neuroblastoma news feed on Laura Stiles A Gentle Spirit, the very nice article about Ryan Malarkey?  To see the article, please click here.

We want to remember Katherine Wilkinson, a little girl from North Carolina who lost her life to neuroblastoma. It's been one year now since she's become an angel.
