Hello Everyone,
I'm sorry it has been so long since I have checked in. Well, I have been back in Chicago for a little over a month now and I am settling in just fine. The weather has been crazy, but I am proud to say I have only fallen on the ice once. Ouch!
I am back at work part-time and loving it. I am almost ready to come back full-time. Work has helped my recovery process move along nicely because it keeps my mind off things. I really like being busy now especially after spending 8 or so months of sitting around doing nothing. Everyone has been so nice about my return. I couldn’t ask for a better place of employment! I love everyone I work with, you guys are awesome!
Aside from that, I have been feeling really great. I go to physical therapy 2-3 times a week. I see my doctor for a routine check-up once every 3 weeks. Combining that with work, I still find myself full of energy. My hair is coming back very very slowly. It isn’t long enough to toss the wig yet. I can’t tell if it is coming back in the same or not. It looks like it is the same color, but I can’t tell if it will be curly or straight (my fingers are crossed for curly).
I really miss my mom and dad. I was fortunate enough to be able to spend 3 months of my recovery with them. I was able to spend so much time with them. Everyday was full of laughter. It was great! I really really enjoyed it! They took really good care of me, waiting on me hand and foot sometimes. I know they probably got tired of me, but I wish they knew how much I enjoyed their company. Thanks, mom and dad!
This past weekend I went down to Champaign, IL to my alma mata for a 7v7 indoor soccer tournament. It was a lot of fun! We created an alumni team to play in the tournament. I really enjoyed seeing all of my old teammates. I was the designated coach for our team and my underappreciated skills took us to the semi-finals. We lost here to the actual Illinois team (probably because Paula Faherty was in the game too long – she was our worst player). I’m joking. We did lose though, but it was ok because the whole day was a blast!
Other than that, things are pretty steady. John is taking care of me now and we are just trying to get through this terrible winter and stay healthy. He is still working for Halvorson & Partners. He really likes it there. He is also taking a class every Thursday night at Illinois Institute of Technology as credit towards his masters. Well, that’s all for now.
I hope everyone is well with everyone!
Laura
