Laura’s Story

Laura had a massive stroke on Saturday June 26, 2010. She was taken to Fairview Ridges in Burnsville Minnesota for treatment. Because of the severity of her illness Laura was transferred the next day to the University of Minnesota Fairview hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. Her left carotid artery is completely blocked and that blockage threw two blood clots to her brain. Laura's right arm and leg are paralyzed with face involvement too.

It was a great vacation last week in Northern Minnesota. We stayed at a resort on Jessie Lake 20 miles north of Deer River. No television, no phone, no internet, we were really in the boon docks! It was nice being away from all the pressures of life and just relaxing. The weather wasn't the best with rain a few days but we didn't let that dampen our spirits.

We caught a lot of fish and Laura did a good job at it too! She loved fishing and did amazingly well with one arm and getting in and out of the boat. Ben caught a sun fish that was about 5-6 inches across, boy was he proud of that one! And of course I had my fishing moment too. I caught a 3 pound Northern right of the dock on a worm yet!! Another proud fisherman...

We have some relatives living near there year round so we got to visit with them too. Had lunch at one of their homes one rainy afternoon and then went out to eat one night in Marcell. It was great seeing them again and they were very impressed with the progress Laura has made.

Laura is continuing her therapy at home and received some additional  botox injections in her left arm.

Ben's baseball team continues to be undefeated. Yeaaaaaaah!!

Thank you for your prayers and support. Laura would love to hear from you and is anxious to have some of her co-workers come visit her.
