Lance Rice's Journal

I can't believe it - graduation is THIS Saturday!!! We are so excited. Lance has taken all of the necessary steps to enroll at Ivy Tech for the fall (we thought about enrolling for summer classes but decided he had earned some time off to just have fun!!). He takes his last final today and we have been assured by his school counselor that he has received enough credits and will be graduating with his class this weekend.
We have applied for three different scholarships and should be hearing back on those sometime in July, keeping our fingers crossed on that!
We have a great party planned for him on June 8th. If I can figure out how to do it, I will post a copy of the invite we sent out (thanks to our friend Chad for making it so cool!!!).
In case I forgot to mention it, he is still SEIZURE FREE and down to one medication! We go back for our check up in Cleveland in August and we can't wait to see our hospital friends! Thanks again to everyone for checking in with us and keeping up on Lance's progress.

Just a little over a month before graduation, hard to believe! We hope to have Lance take his placement tests for Ivy Tech this weekend and then plan to meet with the powers that be at the school to outline the plan for his first semester.
In the meantime we are in the process of planning his open house June 8th at Maple Creek. Lance is working quite a bit and as usual saving all of his money and complaining about the cost of gas! Amazing how when it is their money they seem to value it more!!!
If I can ever convince him to get on the ball and let us get his "senior" picture taken, I will post some new pictures.
We'll check in again soon.

It's been a while since our last update. Lance is doing AWESOME! He is down to one medication and in two weeks he will be driving again. Still seizure free!!!! He is back to work and enjoying getting out of the house and making money. We have started applying for scholarships for college next year and planning his graduation party. He just brought home his best report card EVER - all As & Bs. We are so proud of him, but I think he is even prouder of himself. It was great to see how excited he was to show us his grades. His last report card showed him having a 2.5 GPA and this time it is a 3.4!
The change in him post surgery and post meds is amazing - I think even he knows he is going to be able to accomplish anything he wants to now.
We will try to update the site more frequently as he gets ready for graduation and college. There is so much to do but it is so exciting.
