My Story

Welcome to Lance's CaringBridge site. It has been created to keep friends and family updated on Lance's progress as he begins his quest to become seizure free.

Lance was diagnosed with severe hemophilia in 1990 at five days old after experiencing a severe intercranial bleed. Lance recovered faster than expected and proceeded to grow into an amazing young man (not that as his parents we are biased!).

He has been presented with many challenges since and has always risen to the occasion, carrying himself with grace while maintaining a friendly, outgoing personality.

In 2001, Lance began experiencing brief episodes of disorientation that were later diagnosed as petit mal seizures. Over the past several years, the seizures have increased in frequency and severity. Lance has tried many different medications however he has been unable to keep his seizures under control.

Thanks to the talented doctors at the Cleveland Clinic and the dedication of our amazing hematologist, Dr. Amy Shapiro and her staff at the Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center, Lance is being given the chance to overcome the seizures that have made acheiving some of his goals more difficult.

Be sure to read the latest in Lance's journal, view the photo gallery, and drop us a line in the guestbook. We appreciate the kindness and support of our many friends and families as we begin this process.
