Honor Kylie Rae this holiday season with a contribution to CaringBridge. Help us reach our $1 million fundraising goal by Dec. 31. Make your year-end donation now.
Welcome to our CaringBridge site. It has been created to keep friends and family updated about our baby girl.
Kylie Rae was born on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007 at only 28 weeks 6 days gestation, after an emergency c-section for an almost complete placental abruption. Had we gotten to the hospital any later, there is a very good chance that we would have lost our little girl. We are very thankful that we were able to get there in time and that the doctors and nurses worked so quickly to save her.
Kylie weighed 2lbs 9oz and was 15in long. At birth, she had an APGAR score of 1, but at 5 minutes was upped to 6. Her lungs are immature, but she was only on the vent for 1 1/2 days. She also had a PDA in her heart, which was successfully closed with ibuprofen treatment.
Kylie was discharged from the NICU on June 7th, one day shy of her 2 month birthday. She continues to be a little fighter!
She is our little girl!
Be sure to read the latest in the journal, view the photo gallery, and drop us a line in the guestbook.
I apologize for the long delay in updates. I have decided now that Kylie is a year old and is no longer having health issues that it would be best to switch updating to a blog for our whole family. I have just now gotten around to doing that. CaringBridge has been an invaluable tool for journaling about Kylie's first year and our experiences getting her to the happy, healthy toddler that she now is. We will keep this site up, in hopes that it can provide hope and support to others going through similar experiences with their preemie.
