6 months ago yesterday was my last day of chemo. I cannot believe that it has been 6 months since that last day, Easter Sunday. A lot has happened since then. I started off my having to be admitted to the hospital 3 times to deal with side effect pain. I was so discouraged since I knew that I was done with chemo but did not feel physically well in anyway. I progressed to be able to spend the summer vacationing all around the country and work part time as a nanny. And now I am a month back into school, in great health, and loving life. I am so blessed and thankful to have made a full recovery. Yes there are some differences and lingering side effects but none that I can't handle.
After spending the weekend in Marengo, Ohio at Fall Retreat with Campus Crusade for Christ, I returned home for my 6-month check-up on Monday. I was glad to see some familiar faces, but the day was somewhat uncomfortable since my veins decided they didn't feel like getting poked. After multiple tries blood was drawn and an IV was put in. The highlight of the day was getting to spend time with Tyler Alfriend and his parents. We had stair-step appointments and got to travel from radiology, up to hemoc, and back to radiology together. Even though Tyler's hair started growing back a few months after mine, he pretty much has his original do back. Mine on the other hand is a work in progress. I think the idiom 'like watching paint dry' should be changed to 'like watching hair grow'.
On the home front, we are excited to announce that Becca has decided to continue her Basketball career at Butler University. After months of consideration she chose Butler and we are very happy for her to have made her decision and have it behind her. She will probably be playing all throughout the Midwest, so family and friends from Illinois to Ohio will be able to watch her play.
Well that is all for now. I need to get back to studying for my Spanish test. Have a great last week of September.
P.S. Scans and everything are fine :)
