Kris’s Story

Hi. I've started this website as a way to update people and express my feelings and experiences throughout this process.
In Feb. 2011 I was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in my liver. It is currently inoperable, and I have been trying to come to terms with that fact.
I'm going to try to keep this website updated with everything that's going on. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it current.

More on Dad

Dad went back to the rehab center yesterday, after his bout with pneumonia. Kerry has been great at sending updates. He and Rick are spending lots of time in hospitals and rehab centers this past month.
according to Kerry, dad worked like crazy to get back to the rehab center. He has regained much of his dexterity in his right hand, which is great! And he has gained much of his lost weight back!
The best news, however, is that his voice is partly back. You can hear his voice thru the phone! Still not always clear, but it's improving. I haven't heard, but I believe they still consider the vocal chord to be paralyzed, but it sounds like it's hopefully coming back.
Now that dad is back at rehab, they will be working him 3x a day. I'll take the good news!

As for me... I start radiation feb. 8 for 3 weeks, 5 days a week. I still don't know if I'm going to have a job when this is over... But that's something to worry about later. The plan right now is for radiation, then a new upcoming chemo. There's a couple that work the same way. One is a little farther along but seems to have rare but worse side effects. So I'm thinking about what to do there. The newer drug, Keytruda, is at the moment not open to cc patients. BUT I gave it on good authority it will be opened up within the next couple of months. So I have a big decision to make when that time comes.

I hope everyone is dealing with this winter. We had over 24" of snow last weekend, and it has already melted to under 12"! Of course, we have huge piles so they will take longer, but the weather has been nice since "snowmageddon 2016" and I only see light rain or flurries in the forecast.
