Koby Hyde's Journal
Written Apr 15, 2013 2:52pmKoby is doing really well. He had a field trip today with his therapists to a driving range and to lunch. He did really good and enjoyed it a lot. He is scheduled to go home on April 19th but will be having outpatient therapy twice a week. Family will also be doing therapy with Koby the other days. He is still deficit in some areas but his progress has been amazing. We have watched God work in the healing of him and it has been truly amazing. God is so good and we are so very thankful. Continue to keep Koby Hyde 89 in your prayers as God continues to heal him.
Eating, walking etc
Written Apr 4, 2013 9:51pmKoby can now eat regular food as of yesterday. He really enjoyed the cheeseburger and fries. He still has to be reminded to eat slow, take small bites and double swallow.
He is doing amazing in therapy. He walked 400 feet today with assistance, is learning to walk steps, strengthening his left leg which seems to be a little weaker than the right. In occupational therapy, he is working on reasoning through things.
He is a 6 on the Los Ranchos Scale and I will add this later. He still sometimes says things that could hurt someone. He has no filter for things so please forgive him if you get "slammed" by him as he really doesn't realize that what he is saying could hurt you.
He loves having his friends visit but he still has to have time with no stimulation. Also when he has visitors, he should not have a lot of talking and carrying on in the room per his therapists. His brain still needs time to heal and according to the therapists says it takes about a year.
Please continue to pray for our boy as he still has a way to go but how happy we are for what God has done so far. Prayer works!
Miracles are evident
Written Mar 28, 2013 10:06amKoby passed his barium swallow test and can now eat soft foods. You that know Koby, knows he loves to eat and his idea of soft food is a tender steak! So he is being reined back somewhat. His memory is good and there doesn't seem to be any deficits in that area. He has his phone back and has been tweeting and connecting with friends which makes him happy. Therapies are progressing but he has a ways to go. The therapists are all very impressed with how he is doing and he really wants to please them. He likes for us to talk to him about what was going on while he was "out"of it. It is so good to see him laugh when we tell him Barnes and Michael stories. He has been amazed and happy about all the prayers and friends who have been at the hospital, strangers who are praying for him and the general outpouring of love during this time. Continue to keep Koby Hyde 89 in your prayers as he continues with his therapies.
