My Story

Hi this is Kim. I was diagnosed with Stage 1A, grade 2, ovarian cancer in April of 2008. On April 28th I had a total abdominal hysterectomy. On June 5th I was scheduled to start my chemotherapy. I had an allergic reaction to the chemo drug Taxol, and my husband and I then decided that perhaps we needed to get a 2nd opinion on treatment.

An update on what is happening in the Throop household . . .

I had another follow-up appointment with my oncologist this Tuesday.  My CA 125 was 12, so that was good news.  I will see him again in 3 months.

On Thur. I had an appointment with an orthopedic dr. as my knee has been bothering me for a while.  What I had suspected was confirmed . . .   I basically have bone spurs and little to no cartilage in my knee.  He gave me exercises to do to strengthen my quads which should help straighten out the knee cap, and offered an injection of "joint fluid therapy."  I am considering that option.

Keith went to an opthamologist on Wed. because at his last eye dr. appointment with his optometrist his cup to disc measurement had changed.  This can often signal the beginnings of glaucoma.  The opthamologist said his eyes  (and nerves in particular) looked great and he just wants to keep an eye on him annually to see if there any other changes.

Also, my mom is scheduled to have a hysterectomy on July 8th.  They are not saying it is uterine cancer, it could just be polyps, they won't know until they go in there.  Please pray that it would not be cancer and that she would have NO complications with the surgery or recovery.  Harley is still weak, but recovering.

All in all there is much to praise Him for and much to pray for!

Thanks for your prayers I truly covet them for myself and my family.
