Somehow nearly a year has passed since I last posted here. Kimber has changed and grown a bit. She is cruising along furniture, wears braces on her hands and feet as well as a 'super-girl' blue therapy suit to help with her posture. She has learned to crawl, has had great mobility improvements with chiropractic and physical therapy, and is a smart little cookie!

Kimber will not let anything stop her. She will find a way to do all the things that she wants to do and has won the hearts of many. Often little children will ask what happened to her face or hands or feet and I just tell them that's the way God made her, doesn't it look like she's whistling and isn't that cute? Most recently I had the realization that her siblings were all enjoying amusement park kiddie rides at her age and that is something that she just can't do. She is still very small. In fact, soon she should be going to 'tots church' on Sundays, but there is just no way. At nearly 2 years old, Kimber is smaller than all the other babies in the church nursery, the youngest being about 6 months old.

She used to LOVE the horses, but now seems afraid of them. We hope she will love them again as riding is great therapy. She has learned to love the water. Up until about 15months old, she had rarely been immersed in water due to her continual casting so she didn't like it at all. Now she is pleased to play in the bath tub so long as you don't pour water on her head.

Her therapists are wonderful. They are kind and encouraging. Sometimes I wonder if they are there for Kimber or for ME!! They are always willing to listen to the latest milestones and challenges and manage to be flexible and understanding as I struggle with insurance hurdles. Kimber was very suspicious of anyone who wanted to touch her for the longest time. Understandably so considering all the specialists and staff who were examining her there for a while. It took her a while to warm up to Leigh and Shelly, but she has grown to love them and looks forward to her therapy appointments.

It's late, I've been up for hours researching tonight trying to explain a few of Kimber's latest challenges and posting some answers to topics on the Freeman Sheldon support group website. Kimber is tucked in and will sleep well until around 9 am then we head out to the Chiropractor for her appointment.
