Dear Family and Friends,
We have had another hard week. I called Dr. Lesser's office on Wednesday, because I was concerned about how much Kevin was sleeping and having difficulty eating. Dr. Lesser thought we should be admitted to Wake Forest. Kevin was put in the hospital on Thursday. They did an MRI, EEG, chest x-ray and several other tests to find out exactly what was going on. We found out Friday afternoon that Kevin's tumor has grown again. We are no longer going to continue with the Avastin treatments every two weeks, because they are not helping. Basically, there is nothing else medical science can do for him. Dr. Lesser has increased his steriod dose to help him be awake more and this has helped. We know that God has chosen to heal him without the aid of medicine or treatments. We hold strong to our faith and believe in God's healing power. Kevin was released from the hospital on Saturday and we will begin having hospice come out to provide us with equipment that will help us move Kevin more easily, and also to give me a break once in while. He still sleeps in our bed and eats meals at the kitchen table in his wheelchair and then will sit in his recliner for the rest of the time. We try to move him around as much as possible and even take him for walks outside in his wheelchair. He enjoys getting out. Kevin still has his faith and always reaches his hand out to pray with visitors. His strength is amazing. The boys and I are doing well. I spent some precious time with them yesterday afternoon when we got home from the hospital. I had to give them the results of the tests. They are such wonderful young men and reminded me to keep the faith, because God is going to complete the healing in their Dad. Zac got out his Bible and read to me James 5:15 "And the prayer offered in faithwill make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up." They are definitely their Daddy's boys. He would be so proud of their faith and strength. God is so good and has brought us so close together. They don't go anywhere unless they know I have help. Please pray for Kevin to be able to take his medicine each day. He has quite a few pills to swallow and certain ones can't be crushed to make it easier. They are the most difficult to get down. He just ate a great meal of chicken and dumplings (thanks Jeff and Tonia!) :), apple sauce and drank a cup of gatorade so tonight's meal went great. He has two more pills to take tonight. We continue to enjoy your messages here, emails and cards. We are so touched by the love and support we are receiving. We thank God for you every day. Please also pray for Kevin's parents and my parents as they travel back and forth from VA to our house every week. They are taking turns staying with me and helping out. They are wonderful. We are so lucky to have such wonderful Christian parents. I don't know what I would do without them. God has truly blessed us. Please know that we love you all and look forward to seeing all of you who have stood with us when Kevin is healed! What a celebration that will be! Kevin is resting now and Jonathan and I are going to have supper and spend some time together. Zac is out with friends. I cherish my time with Kevin and the boys. I better say goodnight for now. God Bless You! Keep praying, praising and believing!!!! :)
