As the majority of you know, Kennedy left this life at 3:27 am Tuesday morning, whole, healed, running through the gates of heaven. I have struggled since to find the words to express the range of emotions we are all experiencing right now. Nothing can prepare you for death, especially the death of a child, no matter how much time you are given to "accept" the inevitable. I have been overwhelmed, and overjoyed to read all the tributes to Kennedy's life, richly overflowing with heartfelt expressions that describe the dedicated journey of a true warrior in the face of such vicious adversity--determination, inspiration, courage, faith, spirit, strength, perseverance, hope--oh, that we could all lead our lives in such a light and leave such an impression...
The outpouring for this family over the past three and a half years is nothing short of awesome. In the ups and downs that Kennedy's journey took, never was there a moment when multitudes were not praying for her comfort, strength and courage to keep fighting. No doubt Kennedy had the drive, but YOU Prayer Warriors often provided the fuel during times of great struggle; that extra push to make it to the summit and rest.
It's hard to comprehend life without her, but we are so lucky to have had the gift of time. So many times we were told we had reached the end, but miracles abounded and Kennedy was able to courageously battle through one more time, one more time...We are most blessed and truly lucky to have had her, to have been part of her life and been left with such a deep impression of how one person can inspire so many. Kennedy won her battle, the joke is on you cancer monster, you cannot hurt her any longer, you are a weak opponent against her healing God that she faithfully summoned to carry her home....
Please continue to pray for this family as they grieve and engage in the public rituals of laying this sweet child to rest. Please be respectful of their need to grieve fully and allow for their privacy and time to do so. I selfishly request special prayers for all of Kennedy's siblings, as these children and young adults are having an especially difficult time.
I cannot thank you all enough for your prayers and support over the years. My prayer is that we could provide such support for all families that are facing such adversity...keep it going, just as Kennedy would wish, give to charities, support research, help one another. Kennedy was able to provide a final gift as she left this world, she was able to donate her eyes so that someone may have the gift of sight for Christmas....she is dancing with delight that she was able to give back after being so richly blessed with so so much. May we all be so gracious...
