My Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. It has been created to keep friends and family updated about Ken.

Ken was on his way to work on Tuesday morning, November 6, when his car left the road and hit a tree on the driver's side of the car. He suffered critical injuries, with many broken bones and a head injury.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to take a moment over this Holiday Season and thank everyone for there support over the last year. It has been one heck of a journey. About this time last year, Ken was being moved to Special Tree in Romulus and had just started emerging from his Coma. Today, Ken is back in Traverse City highly functioning and able to meet and take care of his physical needs. His memory and cognitive skills still have a way to go, but Ken is strong and determined his only goal is to come home.

Dealing with a TBI (traumatic brain injury) is tough. Probably the toughest thing I have ever dealt with and although it’s tough for Ken I strongly believe it’s hardest on his family. We all want the best for Ken and it’s hard to tell him he’s not able to stay at home, having to deal with the reality and severity of his brain injury on a daily basis makes it difficult. Please continue to keep Ken in your prayers as well as our family. Ken enjoys his visits home and so enjoys the company when family and friends come to visit.

For those of you who don’t know Ken now has a cell phone~231.881.5359 and email~kennethhuggard@gmail.com. If you want to call him it’s best to reach him after 6:00pm when he is done with his therapies and dinner. His email is not checked on a daily basis but I will help him respond back to everyone.

Have a safe and blessed holiday season.

Love,

Ken, Misty & Brandon
