Ken had a rollover accident back on 9/11 and was flown down to Hennepin County Medial Center that same day.
His immediate injuries were a fractured pelvis along with a fractured thorasic vertebrate, a few cracked ribs and a lacerated kidney.
They were not able to operate right away because of internal bleeding from the accident, but by Wed of that week (9/16) he was stable enough to go forward with the pelivic corrective surgery.
By Friday 9/18 he was a bit more alert and even having small conversations with Ruby.
On 9/20 Ken had developed a GI bleed and has needed a few units of blood and breathing assistance via a respirator.
On 9/21they installed a filter in one of his veins to filter out any blood clots and found that the GI bleed was due to an ulcer caused by the trauma. He is still on a respirator because of low blood oxygen saturation levels due to his COPD so they will do a temporary tracheostomy on 9/22 to alleviate the discomfort of the intubation tube in his throat. This will also allow them to lighten the sedatives he is currently under.
Doctors are still optimistic about the outcome, but he is still in fairly critical condition.
As soon as Ken gets moved into a normal hospital room where he can receive cards and visitors we will update this website accordingly.
