My Story

Welcome to Ken Cavanaugh's CaringBridge website. I've created it to keep everyone updated about Ken as he battles renal cell carcinoma.

Unfortunately, Ken lost his battle to cancer on August 25th, 2011.  He will be very much missed by all people whose lives he touched.

A quote from Ken, explaining his philosophy on what is happening (It was too big for the intro message).

"We must ultimately remember that the universe is fundamentally random: bad things happen to good people all the time for no reason.  I think that is more comforting than other concepts: there is no blame on gods, or behavior, or thought.  Bad s**t happens.  Perhaps the best mark of western civilization is that we don't accept this: we fight back with every weapon available, and are constantly working to improve the odds against an uncaring, random universe."

Memorial Service Time

I am trying to reach everyone that may wish to attend, so if I have missed someone, please do forward this on to them.

Ken's Memorial Service time has been set to:

1pm, Saturday, September 3, 2011 at
    Duggan's Serra Mortuary
    500 Westlake Ave.
    Daly City, CA 94014
    (650)756-4500

Directions can be found at (http://www.duggans-serra.com/facility.shtml).  They are very near the Daly City BART station.

Instead of floral arrangements, a scholarship fund has been established at Golden Gate Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in his name.  Music played a big role in Ken's life, both as a child and as an adult. Please consider a donation.
