Well, I can't believe I haven't undated this site since June 8. I guess no news is "no news". I have been continuing the 10 mg of predisone and Rituxin every week. I have no real side effects from the Rituxin. However the steroids do give me mild side effects that develop a pattern each week. I got a cold this week and I'm hoping it stays just a cold, just like a normal person. I had a good meeting with my Dr. Alverez and his PA, Brianna and I met again with the transplant team at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center. RMCC of course said transplant is not possible in my present condition. They suggested either stay the course, consider clinical trials (they have a patient on RAD001 and sorafenib thru Mayo doing very well), or of course add more chemo to the mix. My 1st reaction to a clinical trial is that you have to be off steroids for 30 days before and I strongly believe my liver function would go whacko while not on it. Dr. Alverez still believes the Rituxin will work slow and steady and we both agreed we're buying time through the summer, etc., as long as I feel good. He said there's a new drug he wants to put me on called Treanda (same family as Fludora) that has excellent reviews. It is approved for a leukemia and will eventually be approved for the lymphomas. He said they're working on the old chemos like mustard and making them new and improved. I will have my next PET scan sometime after August 9 (which will be 3 months) and that will be an important part of the next decision process. Well, that's about that for now. Will and Walker and I are flying out to spend a week in Iowa to visit family. When we get back on July 23, I have a feeling back to school will be right around the corner. Yes!
