This month marks our 7 year "tumor-versary" and it is Father's Day this Sunday.
This year has been one of much accomplishment as our organization that we founded was financially able to go out and meet other survivors, kick off a support group, establish professional relationships, raise awareness and inspire hope.
The work of a non-profit in today's economy is not the easiest when you are already an underdog and affected by a disease that isn't well-funded in research, awareness campaigns almost non-visible and survivors vastly disconnected from one another. But we have learned over the last seven years, that faith is paramount to anything else and that we wouldn't be here if it weren't for miracle after miracle delivered by God himself.
So we cherish the small conversations with other survivors, caregivers, friends and family members who have found themselves new members of this unique community; we are always excited by the spark that happens from those who understand the insurmountable issues that one faces upon this diagnosis; we celebrate the milestones that we achieve and share with others; we communicate the need for immediate change and greater empathy and understanding; and we challenge all to join in our cause because we know that it is the most devastating of all cancers.
Lastly, we wake up each day with a new drive, direction and fervor to make this a good day.
Our Keith, father, husband, friend, leader-truly made it seem easy during the treatments, clinic visits and surgeries. He is full of life, hope and commitment to his family, community and friends. We thank him for inspiring us daily and keeping things in perspective for us.
Life is what you make of it-thank you Keith for our lives!
We love you!
