Psalm 46:10a “Be still, and know that I am God…”Being STILL as opposed to being hysterical is my new approach to handling life’s crisis. How great is that? This promise says that we don’t need to freak out or have a pity party when bad things happen. We simply need to be STILL – calm, humble, and quietly submit to His plan - and trust Him to continue to work out all things for our good. We found out that there is significant hearing loss in Kayla’s right ear like we suspected (could be due to radiation, tumor, or ear infections) so in response to this I have been praying, and I simply ordered a book, talked to our nutritionist, and talked to our chiropractor and got several ideas on ways to slow down, stop or possibly even reverse the hearing loss (everyone is telling me reversing it is not likely but I am optimistic, really, her body is amazing so far). Being STILL about this feels peaceful and without screaming about it, I can pray and research more effectively. I did okay with that news, although I can’t say that I never panic and any brain tumor parent would agree that hearing loss is minor compared to the diagnosis. So my point is that I am finding there is something to this whole “BE STILL” thing and I hope you will try it the next time you are faced with adversity. It certainly beats being loud and ridiculous and it saves on stress. Kayla is doing okay and I think the hearing loss has been happening for awhile now. We have been camping a few times, swimming, biking, jumping, and loving summer time. Kayla’s little sister (2 ˝), brother (4 mo), and dad with all his pursuits keep me running and challenged, but I love it. Thank you for checking in and praying for Kayla and all these other kids that have cancer. Your prayers are invaluable and have brought us to almost 3 yrs from diagnosis. Love, Brenda
