Sorry for the delay in posting....we had a run on a stomach bug in the house since Friday, and besides Stephen and Tara, I also came down with it. Kathleen had Cytoxan and Vincristine administered on Monday. Dr. Steinherz held off on the Doxorubicin, since Kiki's already had pretty close to the max on that. It was a pretty long day for Nora and Kathleen. There was a delay in starting the chemo until urinalysis results came back, so the Cytoxan wasn't started until just after noontime. But some good news came out of the day. With Dr. Steinherz's ok, we've arranged for Kathleen to have her Vincristine only treatments given at the Valerie Center. It saves a LOT on the travel (which, given the price of gas today, is a big deal!), and lessens the stress and strain on the family, particularly Nora and Kiki. So, unless Kiki has a fever in the next couple weeks, Nora won't need to take her to NYC again until after the Memorial Day weekend. Labs and Vincristine the next two weeks at the Valerie Center. As always, thanks for the support and prayers!! Every day 46 children aged 15 or younger are diagnosed with cancer. Every four hours, a child dies of cancer. Cancer is the number one killer of children by disease. This is totally unacceptable to all of us affected by childhood cancer, and should be even for those not touched by childhood cancer.
