It's been a very busy week since our last update. Between the kids doing their homework & my homework, there has been little time to do much else. John took Kate to the dr on Tues for a counts check, just as we suspected her anc is down to 650. Back to germ patrol. As we move further along in Maintenance we will get used to the roller coaster ride, I guess. She is doing great & is loving having Emily & Alex at home to play & fight with! We had a wonderful time bowling with Connor Moran Children's Cancr Foundation on Sunday. They provided the pizza & lanes, the kids had a blast. This is a wonderful organization, please go to their website & read all about them www.connormoran.org They also gave us canned & boxed food for Thanksgiving, this was an unexpected surprise! Thank you to all the donors & sponsors. We will be sure & pay it forward.
I'd also like to praise Emily & Alex for being on the honor roll!! Emily was on the A honor roll & Alex was on the A,B Honor roll. Alex also received Dynamic Dolphin (student of the month) 2x this past month!! Once from his teacher, "Hi" Mrs Diaz, & one from his music teacher. I am so proud of them both.
Kate has been working diligently with her homebound teacher, Mrs. Cathy. She is relunctant at first, but when she finally gets going she has fun & is starting to read!
John & I went out on Tues for our 14th Anniversary! Thanks grandma for sitting with the kids. We both can't believe it has been 14 yrs. The time sure has flown by. We still feel young at heart.
This Thanksgiving we have sooooo much to be thankful & grateful for. Every time I look at Kate, I thank God for letting her stay with us to brighten our lives & enrich our souls. This has probably been the worst, most difficult year of our lives. At least I sure hope it was. I thank God for giving us the strength to get through this far, together, stronger and more dedicated than ever. I also thank God for the people in our lives, family, old friend, new friends, and people we have met along the way giving us a little bit of their strength to keep going. Many stories we have come across this past year have been inspirational, but also many have been heart breaking. This has truly been an emotional roller coaster ride. We would also like to thank you for keeping up with our story. Just knowing there are so many wonderful people out there praying for Kate & us is very uplifting. As you sit around your table this year, take a good long look at each & every one of the faces that surround you. Let them know how thankful you are for them. And remember, yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why they call it the present! Love, hugs & kisses to all this Thanksgiving. Please continue to keep all of our fellow cancer warriors in your prayers, they continue to fight everyday, with no holidays off.
God bless & Gobble Til Ya Wobble!
Mary, John, Emily, Alex & especially Kate ;~)
