When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or fight like hell. ~Lance Armstrong

    Happy Independence Day folks!!

It was a year ago today that Kat got her Independence from Emory Hospital in Atlanta and she hasn't spent a night in a hospital since then! Honey (her Grandfather) and I flew up to Atlanta and Laurie and Kat flew home while I drove Laurie's car back through holiday traffic, which included a 4 hour traffic delay outside of Montgomery.
Dada and Honey came over and ate the holiday feast with us today. I smoked a MEAN rack of ribs too folks! But Dada topped 'em a with coconut cream pie. Ginger and Mary Anne would have been envious of it! For the younger folks out there, look for re-runs of Gilligan's Island and you'll get the reference. Laurie made homemade yeast rolls, baked beans and whippped up some kind of marinade for the ribs that probably made them better than my cooking ever could have.. Don't tell her I said that though. It's hard enough to live with the perfect wife already! I mean, what have I got in my box of skills? I can cut a yard!! That's about it folks. I'm challenged here!
Kat called early this afternoon from Phoenix while she and her Dad waited on the connecting flight to Seattle. Tomorrow morning they'll catch the ship and cruise Alaska for 7 days and nights.  Oooh, be right back... She's calling from Seattle now. ...................................................................................................
...................................................................................................
Ok, I'm back... Sorry to leave ya'll hanging. She says she's good and she's having a good time. She's tired but excited. She said that they got the "Veteran's treatment" from the airline when they arrived in Seattle. All veterans and active military were allowed to exit the plane first and since Stan was in the Army, he decided he'd been cooped up long enough and they joined in the early departure.
The fireworks here in our neighborhood have begun and Daisy has been sedated. She HATES July 4th! Duffy just runs back and forth barking at the pretty lights and Gus looks at both of them like they're absolutely nuts! Laurie has decided that since it's a quiet night and we're not going out to watch fireworks, we will clean up and organize "the hanger". That's the spare bedroom where I build my model planes and she sews, or would if model planes weren't all over the place! I REALLY don't think she understands how big a job this is going to be. (shhh- Don't tell her. It'll make for an interesting night). Gotta go.... Time to "organize" she says!! Hahahahah. Have a great weekend Team Kat and be safe!

PS-- Thank you to our veterans and active military from Team Kat! You are the reason we celebrate our Independece!
