My Story

My name is Kamelah. I am 10 and a half years old. I love everything most kids do. I love my family, playing, church and Jesus. I was told on Friday April 11, that I have Leukemia. The last month or so, I haven't been able to do much of anything I love though, because I hurt alot. Please pray for me through my treatment, I need it alot. (written by Uncle Ryan)

The celebration was a huge success and a TON of fun. Thanks for all that joined us!! We shaved 43 heads and 2 more girls donated their ponytails (we donated 4 ponytails in all). Callista, Teagan and Lloyd all shaved their heads too. Just Cooper and I that are hairy in the house..... We all had a great afternoon emersed in a community of support, genuine caring and love for Kamelah. We raised close to $1000.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. We made it in the local paper (very exciting). You can read the article at http://www.westlinntidings.com/features/story.php?story_id=123378470945308600. A friend of ours is coordinating a team for the San Francisco marathon in July and raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society also you can join many others in reaching the goal at http://www.firstgiving.com/Kamelahnoel

Kamelah's MRI did show changes in the bones of her feet and one of her shin bones. We see a childrens' orthopedist at Shriner's Hospital next week on Wed. She is having almost no pain now that she has stopped her basketball and ballet. It is hard for her to be much less busy but slowing down lfe is not all bad. We hope the damage to the bones is not too advanced to heal itself and that is will be a quick process and she will return to 100%. The oncologist confirmed they will hold the steroids from this point on through her treatment. She assured me that this shouldn't change the prognosis for a cure for Kamelah.

I will post some pictures from last Monday's fun event! Thanks to all who participated or helped out. WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT ALL!!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO EVERYONE!! Love, Kamelah and family
