Finally some good news! Kaden's rash is so light now that no one can see it without looking closely. It still itches some, but we have been able to drop the all day benadryl and only give it to him at night. Of course now I can't get him to take a nap, but I will take that over the zoned out little guy from last week. He is back on claritin every morning too, so he should be well covered. He still does not have those little bumps that he had for months either. They disappeared when the rash popped up and so far they have not come back so more good news.
The final verdict on the cause of the rash was mosquito spraying. Apparently the city is spraying all of the parks for the little buggers. Seriously, it has been over 100 degrees nearly daily for weeks. I think they're dead lol. Anyway, I am glad the city is trying to keep west nile from being an issue here, but they should at least warn people. I found out about the spraying through the oncology clinic when Mrs. L said that was a likely cause because of the times that he has gotten the rash. We can't go to the park, swimming at the local pool or do anything indoors sooooo it is a good thing that we have plenty of toys :). Thankfully the splash park does not seem to give Kaden any issues and so far the docs have not nixed that, shhhhh don't tell them!
Otherwise Kaden is doing great! He is happier this week and loving the outdoors. Yesterday he had to find every pill bug he could and put it in a bug catcher, but he did not believe that they would die in there. He was very disappointed when they did not survive the night :( Today is lizard catching day, but those he is just petting and letting go. His hands will be peeling by the time he is done from all of the hand washing.
We are looking forward to a fun 4th of July. Our plans are to watch the parade and go to the fireworks. Hopefully we can have a bbq if the weather is not too hot. The kids are really looking forward to having a few fireworks of our own this year. We are officially not in the city limits this year so we shall see. Of course that depends on the weather (it is hot and dry) and if we are finally allowed to water the grass (a pump broke at the water tower or something and then there was a run on water so we are still waiting). It has been nearly a WEEK and our grass is starting to look very sad *sigh*. Anyway we will have fun one way or another but fun with water and fireworks would be great :).
Ethan is still loving his lego/robot camps! He spent 4 hours building various motorized things out of legos on Tuesday and he is there again today. He has never loved something so much! If anyone knows where to get the lego motorized sets for a reasonable price or has some they would like to sell please let me know! They are not cheap, and I think the sets they sell at Target are expensive but they are cheap by comparison lol. Anyway, he is on cloud nine these days, and I am so happy for him!
We are so thankful that Kaden is doing so well right now, and we just pray that he continues to be healthy! It is hard not to be over protective, but I am trying REALLY hard to relax! I even made some progress today, so hopefully no one gets sick!
