First things first! Kaden has been headache free since the one I mentioned on Monday, so it seems to at least be somewhat related to the meds from last week, but at least he still has two weeks before he has to deal with those meds again. Hopefully it was a fluke thing. On a good note he only had very minimal eye trouble this month, so I wonder if the problem was the increase in the dose of vincristine or steroids last month since he grew some and his meds were increased. That is just a guess, it may be that he just loves trying out new side effects each month now lol. I love that he enjoys trying new things, but seriously can we draw the line just before this!
Another good thing, his appt with Dr. C went very well today! Why is it that after you make an appt things get better, so that by the time you actually get to the doc's office the kiddos are not nearly as symptomatic?! We went anyway just to be sure nothing was missed. The gymnastics class has REALLY helped with his walking/strengthening/stretching issues in the last few weeks to the point that he only has 'normal' 3 year old issues that may or may not go away with time and very 'tight' feet which is most likely due to the meds and that almost always corrects itself after treatment ends. For now we are going to try an insert in his shoe to help him (so we can hopefully keep him from having intermittent pain), and if this does not go away after treatment then we will talk about ways to 'straighten him out'. We don't want him to end up with knee issues or ankle trouble; he will have enough to think about during his life without having issues in this area. He will not go back to the oncologist office until the middle of the month, so we have two more free weeks (he still has nightly meds of course)!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We enjoyed a great day with some of our family, and we spent this afternoon decorating for Christmas!
We love the Christmas traditions that we have started with the kids, and it is so much fun to see their excitement as they anticipate things now. They have been asking since October if we get to decorate the house and make our gingerbread house. Some of their other favorites are the Christmas eve telling of the Christmas story complete with the breakable manger scene figures (their favorite part because it is the only time they get to touch them :), and the birthday party for Jesus complete with cake (who doesn't love cake for breakfast :). Each year we try to add something, so in a few years it might get complicated lol.
We are looking forward to the Christmas parties, ornament and cookie exchanges, Christmas plays, the Christmas Eve service and certainly spending time with family and friends! We have tickets to the Nutcracker thanks to Starlight Starbright, and the kids are excited about that even though they have no idea what it is about. That should be fun!
We have few more things to finish before we break from school for the semester. The kids are excited about finishing a few things that they did not care for this semester and picking up some new things next semester as well as continuing some favorites (science is a favorite for all of them). Caitlyn is going to get to start a new math book, so she is feeling more confident about math again which is nice to see. Ethan and Kaden will continue to work on fine motor skills and phonics.
It is really nice to be thinking about good things and reporting on 'normal' happenings!
Have a great week, and if we don't update before his next appointment then I will let you know how that goes (we don't expect anything exciting which is very nice)! We will update pixs as soon as we get the ornaments from last weekend and get them uploaded to the computer.
Praises: We had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
The kids are doing great and enjoying time together and most of their school work!
Prayer requests: Continued health
Please pray for our country (I will leave it at that)
