WE ARE PREGNANT!

How is that for an opener?  We are finally ready to annouce to the world that #2 is on the way.  I am 13.5 weeks pregnant and Baby Reiz v2.0 is due 5Dec2009.  And, coincidentally, yesterday was 3rd year anniversary of when I was told I had kidney cancer.  Back then, my world was turned upside down.  I never thought I would be healthy and pregnant with another baby three years later!

Needless to say, we are shocked.  After all the chemo and cancer nightmare we went through, we knew our chances were not favorable.  Last fall my oncologist felt comfortable with us trying as we approached the 2 year in remission point.  He put in a consult right away for a RE (fertility doctor) and I had a lot of testing done.  Long story short, we didn't get good results.  I have a blocked tube (probably from the nephrectomy surgery) and my FSH level (ovarian reserve) was pretty high--probably from the chemo.

As I sat there in the doctor's office getting the not-so-great news, I was pregnant.  Miracles do happen!

So far the pregnancy has been going smoothly.  I had my First Trimester Screening done two weeks ago and got stellar numbers back putting me at VERY low risk for T21 (Downs) and T18.

I am seeing a high risk doctor due to my age (37) and my medical history.  I met her for the first time today and love her--and I rarely connect with military doctors.  She is going to monitor my creatinine levels.

No CT scans while pregnant, but my doctor felt it was safe for a CXR in August, so we are going to proceed with that. Once the baby arrives,  I will probably have a CT scan after delivery.  I will still see my oncologist in August as scheduled.
