Hey everyone!!! Becca and I both finished our Doctor’s appointments for the month!! I had to go for a checkup with my surgeon at Vanderbilt on May 27th. He was very pleased with my progress. My hair has finally stopped falling out, I am gaining weight and my strength is getting better every day. We talked about that as of right now I do not have any hernias but it is still a possibility that I could get one anytime. I have to go back in September after my liver ultrasound to discuss plastic surgery on the scar on my stomach and the scar on my neck from my tracheotomy. Dr. Collier wants to see how my liver, kidneys and lungs are doing before we talk about doing any plastic surgery. He said that he does not want to put any more shock on my body until everything is doing better, which I totally understand, I can wait as long as needed!!
Becca had her 9 month checkup yesterday with Dr. Amy. I actually took her by myself, the first trip to the Doctor with just me and her!! We survived!! She is weighing in at 15.5 pounds and is 26.5 inches long. Dr. Amy said that she is going GREAT!! She is actually on the “charts” now as of weight and length!! This is the first time since she was born that she has been on the “charts” with her weight and length. She had to get one shot in her leg, which she handled really well. She does not have to go back to see Dr. Amy until her 12 month checkup.
Things are beginning to get back to some sort of normal in our household, finally!! I have started trying to work more and more each week, with hopes of being back full time soon. It is going really good. Becca has started daycare and is doing really well. She seems to enjoy being around other kids. Ben is taking her every morning and I pick her up after I get off work. It is the most wonderful feeling in the world to come into the daycare room and for her to look up at me and smile!! Also, a few friends and co-workers have had us some baby showers since we are all able to attend now!! Things are really going good, we are so blessed!!!
Becca and I are actually done with Doctor appointments until July. Becca has to go back to Vanderbilt for an appointment with a hearing doctor and her cardiologist just for follow ups. I am actually done until August!! I will send an update to Kim after Becca’s appointments in July. Thank you all again for everything………all your thoughts and prayers are the reason that me and Becca are thriving today!! God is GREAT!!!
