Journal entry by Glenn Iliff

Good Morning!
We hope you are well. We had a little over a foot of heavy, wet snow this past weekend. It was easily our biggest weather event of the season. The wind contributed to the foul weekend, whipping parts into four-foot drifts. Had it been a few degrees warmer, it would have been all rain, as the temperatures hovered just below the freezing mark. That said, some melting occurred during the storm that lasted well into Monday.  The snow is gone.  It left behind some much-needed moisture as our landscape is greening up nicely. We have more rain in the forecast for this coming week.  Due to our unusually dry winter, we will play catch-up for the foreseeable future.  Let's hope it is rain.  That is always our preferred method to bolster our dry conditions.
I was grateful that the weather didn't interfere with getting to and from the surgery center for my hernia operation.  It went well.  It's sorer than I thought it would be, but I'm not in my '20s anymore, and recovery happens on its own time. I still should be able to start puttering around outside this coming week, but I will leave the work and strenuous stuff for later.
There was no speech this past week.  Judy's therapist was in Arizona to see her daughter, so it was a much-needed break for everyone involved.  Judy spent the allotted speech time with an extended audiobook session.  She's listening to one of her favorite mystery characters, Agatha Raisin.  Judy says they are a fun read and are pretty humorous.
As the week went on, the weather continued to improve.  By Thursday, it was in the '60s. We left early for PT to get some drive time and check out our landscape's sudden resurrection and rebirth.  We remembered as we pulled up for therapy that it was testing day.  Judy was scheduled to go through all of her timed tests.  I could tell right away that she didn't have that same drive and competitiveness that she usually brings to the table on testing day.....and you know, that's OK.   I'm not sure if she wasn't just having a mellow day or didn't want to deal with the stress that she usually whips up inside herself.  No one seemed concerned, even though the scores were dismal in comparison, particularly the longer distance walks. We stopped for dinner on the way home at Old Chicago.
I will probably do some grilling this weekend. Any excuse to be outside will be a welcomed pleasure. Friday reached the low '70s, and we expect the same for Saturday and Sunday. This coming week will be relatively quiet for both of us. Other than Judy's therapies, the only thing on the calendar is Judy's hair appointment scheduled for Monday afternoon.  Much to Judy's delight, we should see Judy's friend, Kelly, both Saturday and Sunday.
Well, that's about it for now.  Thanks for stopping by!  We hope you are enjoying the wonderment of the season and the magic that accompanies it.  New beginnings, an eager fresh start.  A chance, once again, to follow your heart.   Please take care and be safe.  God Bless.  Until next week...................
