My Story

My name is Josie Dowd. I was born February 3, 2006 with apert syndrome. Apert syndrome involves craniosynostosis & syndactly of the fingers & toes.

I have two wonderful parents (Mark & Kellie) and a big brother brendan who just adores me. In fact I am told that Brendan named me, I am sure lucky he picked such a cute name..

Josie had her yearly craniofacial clinic, all is well. NO SURGERY SCHEDULED AND NONE ON THE HORIZON!! We are going to follow up with a eye specialist about why her eyes water all the time (since birth). He said she may be missing some ducts, nothing major or urgent. If indeed she needs some work done on them, we will combine it with another surgery to reduce anesthesia time.

She is getting more coordinated and doing the stairs better. still needs a hand to hold on to, but way more confident. She is on our nephews trampoline a lot, so i think that helps. The kids also started swim lessons,  getting ready for myrtle beach. The swim instructor is encouraging us to get her to learn a tricycle, it will help her to learn to kick.

Less than a month to Myrtle Beach, and camping next weekend for fourth of july..so FUN TIMES are on the way.
