Josh was diagnosed with Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor of the Kidneys in January 2007. Treatment ended in September 2007. After 10 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 days of radiation, and surgery to remove each tumor from the kidneys Josh was cancer-free and doing GREAT! However, a biopsy was done July 2008 and cancer cells were present.
My name is Joshua Hardy and in January 2007, I was diagnosed with Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor of the Kidneys. I had a tumor on each of my kidneys. The left tumor was about the size of a softball when it was discovered and the right was about the size of a walnut. They had orginally thought that I also had a mass in my chest but, Praise God it was just an enlarged gland. I was considered to be stage 5 and had little to no chance. My treatment ended in September 2007. I had 10 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 days of radiation, and I had surgery to remove each tumor from both of my kidneys.
In July 2008 a biopsy was done and cancer cells were present in the thymus gland. This is the gland that has been an area of question since the beginning. It has now developed into a problem that needs attention. We will do 12 days of radiation and 2 or 3 more rounds of chemotherapy. There is a lot of hope that this incident can be eradicated. We continue to put all of our hope and faith in GOD.
Our prayer is to give thanks to GOD for a long healthy life filled with joy and blessings with Joshua and our other children. We give all the glory to GOD. Thank you for visiting my site and thank you for adding Josh to your prayer list.
Yesterday marked one year since we marched Josh out of the ICU as a family with a parade of nurses, doctors, and confetti to the regular transplant floor. I can remember one of our favorite nurses was playing "Happy, Happy, Happy" on her phone as we pushed Josh through Halls to the next phase of his full recovery and complete healing. What a milestone!!! It looks even better a year later. Thank you GOD for the loving staff of the St Jude's ICU. For 72 days they cared for Josh and they never gave up with us pushing Josh right out of the unit.
We arrived in Memphis on Monday for a week of look-see's for Josh. The appointments were very good. The immune system is still suppressed which we had hoped would be better. But I know Josh's immunity is on its way. I have Faith. His other blood labs were the best they had ever been so that was promising.
One of my favorite appointments this week was with Endocrinology. There we talked about Josh's future---his future growth and development. So much of our discussions with medical personnel over the last year and half as been about Josh's immediate need. But yesterday we talked mostly about his future. Praise GOD from whom all blessings flow.
Speaking of the future, Tuesday March 31st we will celebrate Josh's 9th birthday. What a blessed Miracle!!!! An intense journey started when he was 9months that many believed would end before he was 2yrs old. But because of our Faith in the Promise of the Word of GOD, we will be celebrating Josh turning 9 years old. Matthew 21:21-22 says "Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” We have believed without a doubt in God's Promise. Thank you GOD for keeping your Word.
On a side note.....
One of my best friends lost her Mother-in-law yesterday. It stabbed me deeply in the heart for Audra and Allen to have lost such a powerful force of love in their lives. To honor Karen Brown, I want to take the time to truly thank GOD for our own parents because I know Allen's mom was a blessing to them. Mom, Dad, Susan, and John~ thank you for unending love, nurturing, and support not only during our challenges with Josh's health but in every aspect of Todd's and my life. Through your undying love and care you made us the people (the parents) we are today. Thank you for always being there for everything we ever needed. Philippians 1:3-"I thank my God every time I think of you" is the perfect verse when we think of the 4 of you. Thank you Mae Staton. Thank you Joe Staton. Thank you Susan Hardy. Thank you John Hardy. Todd and I love you and honor you.
I will be in touch again when......
To be honest I will be in touch again when I feel lead to write. We are so blessed to be home with all 6 of us under one roof. Life is picking up to an active pace that we enjoy so much. Even though I love giving Glory to GOD in these updates, I am going to truly Glorify GOD by living the abundant life He has given me through Jesus. Thank you all so much for your love support and prayers. We treasure each one of you. So until next time (and that could be anytime for any reason) Have fun!
Thank you for the blessing of our parents' love, support, and sacrifices. Thank you for being the ultimate loving parent, Our Father in Heaven. Thank you that whatever the devil tries to throw at us through our Faith in Your Son, JESUS, we can enjoy your the peace and abundance you have planned for us. Let everyone who reads this prayer know it is Your Will for us is to live in divine health, perfect peace, and freedom from worry. When JESUS taught how to pray, He said "Our Father who art in Heaven Hallow be thou Name. Thy Kingdom come on, Thy Will be done on earth as it is Heaven.... It says it right there "Thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven". What do we know about Heaven? We know Lord, You have prepared a place of perfect peace, no sickness, no worries. Just love, joy, and an ending relationship with You. So when the circumstances of lives, negative encounters with people, unnecessary pursuit of things, and worry creep into our lives to rob of us the abundant life you have planned for us; let respond in Faith and Trust that it is Your Will in Christ that we live on earth as you have planned for us to live in Heaven. It is in Your Son, JESUS, that we give thanks in prayer---AMEN!!!
