Hi Joshua!

Not too far from here is a sort of retirement home for chimpanzees who have been performers or who have participated in research studies. people are not really allowed to visit because they find that the chimpanzees do better when they are left to themselves.  Bubbles the chimp (who belonged to Michael Jackson) lives there along with many others. Chimps are not good pets because they are very strong and very aggressive as they get older, but once they live among people it is very difficult for them to live in the wild again. There is also an elephant sanctuary not far from here. I guess because the weather is warm and there's lots of space exotic animals can live very comfortably.

You are getting to be such an intelligent well written boy! I notice that your Caring Bridge page is much more grown up too!

Our love and best wishes to you and your family!

Wow! You are such a tremendously big boy! We remember when you were just a little guy!

Keep writing Joshua! Fred loved your thoughts on Saint Francis! He is one of our very favorites because he loved and served the poor which is something that we believe in strongly. Always be compassionate.

Give your mom a big hug from all of us, especially now when she is sad and worried about Jodi and Andy. Having a big heart often means that you must suffer in the heartache of others.

So good to see that you are getting so grown up!

Our love and prayers to you,

Each of us different,

No one is the same

Each of are us are unique in our own way,

Those of us who have challenges, we smile through our day.

Those who of us who have challenges, we smile through our day.

It doesn't matter what others say

we are special anyway.

Persevere.

Feel no pain,

Have no gain.

Pain is nothing to fear.

Persevere.

Keep on going,

Keep on showing

Effort throughout the year.

Persevere.

Win the race,

Set your own pace,

And do not overwork your gears.

Persevere.

Don't give up hope.

You're not at the end of your rope.

The path is clear.

Persevere.

Keep going on.

Go well past dawn,

and do not shed a tear.

Persevere.

Just visualize

That your amazing prize

Is drawing very near.

Persevere.

Feel the joy form the sun,

You're almost done.

See the finish line appear?

Persevere.

You crossed the finish line.

You made a record time.

The end is finally here.

Persevere.

You got up when you fell,

You ran the race very well.

Can you hear the people cheer?

Persevere.

Remember the race you've won.

Remember the race that is now done.

But, Always remember to persevere.

Hi Josh
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Though life may be unkind
And knock me around for a while
Though I may get a few bruises
And carry some permanent scars
I won't let it defeat me
I'll never give up
Though life may leave me crumbled
Weeping on the floor
The tears I cry today
Will be gone tomorrow
I'll stand up with new strength
With courage in my stubborn heart
Refusing to stay down

This isn't the first time
Life tried to bring an end to me
Nor is this the first time
I fought to survive

I've experienced being crushed
Many times in this life I live
Only causing me to rise again
To defiantly stare life in the face
Letting it know
That I will never give up

Life can hurt me
And kick me while I'm down
The bruises will heal
And the scars will fade with time
While I'll rise once again
To laugh in the face of life
Daring it to try again
Because I'll never give up

Though life may be unkind
And knock me around for a while
Though I may get a few bruises
And carry some permanent scars
I won't let it defeat me
I'll never give up
Though life may leave me crumbled
Weeping on the floor
The tears I cry today
Will be gone tomorrow
I'll stand up with new strength
With courage in my stubborn heart
Refusing to stay down

This isn't the first time
Life tried to bring an end to me
Nor is this the first time
I fought to survive

I've experienced being crushed
Many times in this life I live
Only causing me to rise again
To defiantly stare life in the face
Letting it know
That I will never give up

Life can hurt me

The bruises will heal
