Jonny has had a great week. He started hyperbaric oxygen on Wed and has done great in the chamber staying totally relaxed. He is in for 90 minutes at a time. On tuesday he went to Dupont and his bacelfin was reduced to 50 micrograms per day. This is the last step before we turn it off. As I said-he has been very relaxed, so it won't be long until we shut it down. We had been seeing a bit of reflux, but that seems to have subsided too. Yesterday I decided it was time to try feeding him again. He ate a whole banana and about 1/4 cup of yogurt. I want to really focus on that this summer.
We really feel so blessed to have Jonny with us. Some days are tough, but not near as much as they used to be. I often feel that I am not doing as much for him as I should be. I have a great nurse who does most of his therapy. I do get too involved in the kids, the house, the farm and the cheese business and Jonny is often not a squeaky enough wheel. But I am so glad that we made it through the tough times.
This has been reinforced this week as we visited our friends whose son (Matt) is in coma with a brain injury due to a skate boarding accident. They are going through all that we went through. They are still unsure of so many things and the pain that they are seeing in their child. Life sure throws us unexpected things.
