I know it has been several weeks since my last update, but I wanted to write this as a "last update" so you all will know of my progress. Tomorrow marks three months since my bypass surgery, and the recovery is nearly complete and the rehab continues to go well.
I have now returned to doing just about any activity that I want to do. Only riding my Harley and water skiing remain on the "things to do" list, and they are only a month away. Last Monday, I played 9 holes of golf, and even though it was a Par 3 course, I experienced no discomfort at all from swinging the clubs. I have done yard work, including using my weed-eater, and running the garden tiller, turning enough dirt to plant a few tomatoes this year. We will not have as large a garden this year, as in past years, but Liz and I both love fresh tomatoes, so we will have some in a couple of months!
There has been no improvement in my hearing, which is the only "downer" to come from the surgery. I still hope for some recovery, and pray for some recovery, but that is in God's hands, and I do not know what He has in store for me along those lines.
I cannot close out this chapter in my life without thanking all of you, dear friends, co-workers, and family for you thoughtfulness, your encouragement, your best wishes, your prayers, and your love. Clearly, I was reminded that I did not face these challenges alone, that I had the support and prayers of so many, and, through it all, I realized how very blessed I am. Thank you all, so very much....
With much love always,
John
