As anyone can tell you, anyone that has ever lived through something like this, that there are times that there is not a lot to say. We have hit that period in time so it seems.
Keeping up to date, John continues to work hard. As I type the physical therapist is here doing the stretches and the manipulations to try and reduce the 'tone' in his arm and leg. Progress is slow but we still seem to have that little bit of progress each day.
John continues to eat more and more everyday as with anything, the more you do the better you get at it. He is much more relaxed eating meaning less fear of choking and eating at a faster rate.
Today was the annual NJROTC awards assembly. This is the time that we take to recognize those that have excelled and participated in various teams with the unit. John, not being an active part of the unit was still honored by his peers just to have survived this horrible ordeal. Everyone stood on their feet and gave John a huge standing ovation as he was rolled to the podium by another cadet. John gave that wonderful smile that said volumes to those that were in attendance. To say the least Mom and Dad were in tears. The support of NJROTC as well as everyone at THS has been awesome.
This is the first time that John has returned to the halls of Tascosa, and as we rolled him through the commons area of the high school, you could see in his eyes that he knew where he was and acted comfortable in the surroundings. This is oh so positive as we are working for John to return to school in August. His homebound teacher, doctor, and those that evaluate him on a weekly basis feel that we are good to go with him returning to the halls of THS next year for his senior year.
We stopped by the nurse's office to say hi. It was very emotional reunion. She along with others from THS were there the first day in the hospital, the days when we were not sure if life was an option for John. Many tears were shed while standing there along with much love and support.
While there we met a very special person, a person that sent us a note early in John's recovery. How this person was so effected by Johns accident and how he was praying for John's recovery. How much he looked up to John and how John on some level befriended him. It was our honor to meet you, and our love and our thanks for your prayers and support. You meant so much to us then, and even more so now.
We stopped by the office on the way out to say hi to Mr. Daniel, a huge supporter of our family and a huge supporter of students at THS. He is retiring at the end of this school year, and Bob you will be missed by us and many many others.
Thank you all for your support and your love.
God bless you all
