Last Wednesday, March 25th, Sloane Charlotte Orzehoskie was born via c-section to Sarah and Ted in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At some point during the delivery Sloane aspirated amniotic fluid. This created breathing difficulties for Sloane and necessitated her transfer to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the hospital for tests, antibiotics, and observation. We were thrilled to receive the following update from Sarah this weekend:
“We are very excited with the progress Sloane is making in the NICU. She has been disconnected from the oxygen machine she previously needed, she is taking formula and breast milk by bottle, and her respiration rates are within the normal limits. So as of
now, there is no reason for her to stay any later than Wednesday (April 1st) in the hospital. She will remain in the NICU to receive her IV antibiotics.”
Besides updating everyone on John and Ruth’s latest grandchild, we wanted to thank everyone in this final entry for supporting the Folkening family during these last five months. In addition, we would like to remind everyone that a permanent guest book for John was set up via www.legacy.com. Here is the link, which you'll probably need to copy and paste into your browser: http://www.legacy.com/gb2/default.aspx?bookid=4569970598272. If the link doesn't work, go to www.legacy.com and use the search function.
