John’s Story

On Sept 1, 2010, John went for a mountain bike ride on trails near his home. When he did not return, Hedda organized a search. He was found off trail, unconscious, and injured from the crash. He was airlifted to Renown Medical Center in Reno. John was in a coma. His vital signs remained strong. He responded to reflex stimulation on his left side, but not his right. From the CAT scan, it appeared that a stroke had caused John to crash.     Please ignore the 'donate now" and "tribute" items. We are NOT seeking donations.

A letter from John

Hedda writes:  We are celebrating John's first anniversary of getting out of the hospital.
The following is being dictated by him"

Dear Friends,

On Sunday night we had a special dinner, celebrating one year of leaving
the hospital behind. I feel like I am getting better, but it has been a very
difficult year for me. I am workig on walking faster, but I am still limping a
bit. We get to my favorite place to walk, Manito Park, a couple of times a
week. In addition, we go cross country skiing, although its a major effort for
me.

I am curious about what goes on in the Progress world and would appreciate
hearing from the Progress community and other friends as well. We want to move
back home this summer.

Best regards

John
