Hi all: Just a short note to report back on our fundraising efforts for the JDM Fund’s inaugural event on September 5th. The response can be summarized in one word: AWESOME! Thanks to donations from all of you -- family, friends, and friends of friends, and even a few charitable foundations – we have raised almost $20,000 and it’s only July 24th! We have set our sights high and will try to attain a goal of raising $35,000. We know it’s a stretch, but nothing is impossible. If we hit our goal, the JDM Fund will be able to offer grant money to other research centers seeking treatments for mitochondrial disease. The sooner we can get money in the hands of researchers, the sooner they can fund new approaches to fighting the disease. We are truly overwhelmed by the response to this event, and even more so by the efforts of some very special people who have reached out to their own friends and family to raise money on the Fund’s behalf. Tickets are still available so we encourage you to help us reach our goal. If you know anyone who would like to contribute, please pass the word on.
