I just got back from my colonoscopy and EGD (stomach) and all was NORMAL! Hooray, just as we expected. The worst part truly was the prep work yesterday (liquid diet and then the bowel prep), then being up most of the night running to the bathroom....GLAD that's over!! Interestingly, having any fluids or food in my stomach only makes me 1 1/2 lbs heavier. LOL.
Anyway, the latest I heard from someone involved in BHD research is that there is no longer any correlation between it and colon or stomach cancer. So I hope that this is the last time to be checked til I'm the normal age for it (and even then....ugh....don't really want to go through that again!) The procedure was fine, I was consciously sedated and nearly asleep. There were some uncomfortable moments but it was like moaning in your sleep.
My pulmonologist is happy to wait on another CT scan of my lungs for 6 months, so as long as I am healthy and not showing any signs of needing one, I'm good to go!! Still...he says no flying. As of right now that's not a problem.
So that is my latest! On to live my life now and enjoy some trips coming up! Czech Republic, Poland and Berlin are coming up, then hopefully a trip to England, and then the Denmark trip to the BHD conference and see some of Copenhagen.
So...no news is good news! (hopefully you won't be hearing me update this for 6 months! :) Unless of course anyone in my family gets tested, I will be wanting to put an update here.
TTYL! Jocelyn
