My Story

Dear Family, Friends and Supporters, Joanna was in a car accident on October 30, 2006 when she suffered traumatic brain injury. After four months she awoke from her coma. She has undergone four brain surgeries. Ten seasons have come and gone since the accident and she is now 21 years old. She faces rehabilitation with strength, courage and determination.

               "Service of Excellence"
 In honor of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit’s  dedicated and professional service in the care of   Joanna Rosen and her mother, Agnes Ann Pepe 
  on October 30th through November 28, 2006.

There will be a dedication ceremony to unveil the painting,

“The Butterfly Girl” by Janine Kimmel,

we have donated the painting to the

Stony Brook University Hospital

in honor of the PICU staff.

The ceremony will be held at the Stony Brook Hospital

on the 11th Floor

in the Parent Education Room

On Friday, June 5, 2009 at 12:00 noon.

Everyone who donated their time and efforts

to make this possible

or anyone who made a contribution towards the painting

 to benefit Joanna’s recovery is welcome to attend.

We hope that anyone of the hospital personnel

who are interested will be in attendance.  

The local papers will be asked to attend to cover the story.

 We will be going out to lunch after the ceremony.

All are welcome to come and help us honor,

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit’s

 heartfelt care and devotion in saving Joanna’s life.
