My Story

At the age of 3, Joanna was diagnosed with an aggressive pediatric cancer, Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Even through pain & complications of excruciating treatment, she lived each day with joy & celebration, finding God’s beauty everywhere & in everyone. On Dec. 22, 2005, Joanna took her last breath and left this Earth & her suffering behind. This is her story .....

Our precious angel would have been 10 years old today.

As Jeff and I were talking this afternoon, he said, “Can’t you just hear her say, ‘I can’t believe I got ten today!’”  And I could hear her voice so clearly, but I had to add… “But she wouldn’t talk like 5-year-old Joanna anymore.  She would be ten.”

I love remembering, but being aware of the amount of time that has passed since I’ve seen her and held her makes my heart hurt so much.
Even so, each time that I feel that my heart might actually break, I remember to thank God for the 6 years that we had with Joanna.  She blessed our lives so!  Every bit of pain is worth the short time that God shared her with us.

                        Happy Birthday Joanna!

                                    We love you,

                                      Mama, Daddy, and Paul
