Rebekah,

I'm so relieved to hear that you have made it through the first year without your dad.  While I have never met you or Davis, I feel like I know you from the many, many conversations your Dad and I had about the two of you.  I saw your beautiful pictures from when you were a little girl all the way up to when you were a young lady.  Jim was so very proud of you and Davis, and he loved you SO much.  I've thought of you and Davis daily this past year, and I have prayed that God would surround you with His love and peace.  Thank you so much for letting us know how you are doing.  Your Dad would be so very proud of you, sweetie.

Rebekah--

Your Dad was a good friend and fellow basketball player at Farragut High School with my son, Todd Overton.  I am so glad to hear that you are progressing through the grieving process.  It is hard to believe that it has been a year since your Dad's passing.  I am also glad to know that time does help heal the hurt of such a loss.  I am identifying with you so much since we lost Todd to cancer on April 18, 2011.  God is good and He will help all of us through these losses.

Hi Rebekah,

Thank you so much for letting us know you are getting stronger each day as we continue on this journey with you.  If you could send me the name of your dad's charity one more time it would help with the healing.

Know our prayers are with you Rebekah.

What a blessing it is to receive this update! I'm so glad you are doing well.  I have often wondered how you and Davis are doing and prayed that both of you are doing well.  I got to know your dad when he was with Riverdeep. I felt like I knew you and Davis even though I have never met you. He was always so proud of both of you. Take care and God Bless.

Hey Rebekah-
I have been thinking about you, Davis and Mertie all week.  And especially about your dad.  Bobby played in a golf tournament last week that your dad had always been his partner.  We have lots of fun memories of your dad playing great and Bobby playing terrible and then Bobby playing great and your dad playing terrible!! But most of all they would have so much fun and loved being partners.
We miss him so much!!
Love to you,

Dear Rebekah,

Thanks for sending out a note letting everyone know how you are doing. I have never met you, but I went to Cedar Bluff Middle School with your dad and played basketball with him in 7th & 8th grade. I also went to Farragut High School with your dad. He was an incredible man and I know that heaven is an even better place with him there. I was backpacking in the Virginia mountains a few weeks ago and was thinking of you your dad and his kids as well. The Lord brought you to my mind to pray for you. I know it must be very hard carrying on without him here but I believe that the Lord wants you to carry on and He will give you what you need for the moment. Your dad has "gone on ahead of you" for now and you will be with him later on. I will be praying for you and your brother now and in the weeks, months, and years ahead. May the Lord Jesus bless you today and everyday.

I am so glad to hear that you are doing well.  I love your positive attitude.  You make your dad proud for sure.  (Remember that picture I told you I had of his car?  I found it as soon as I got home that day.  I will give it to Susan next time I see her so she can get it to you)  Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Rebekah,
It was good to hear from you.  I have prayed for you and your brother throughout the year....and the rest of your family as well as the numerous friends your Dad had.  I have been thinking of this anniversary date for weeks now....thinking about how you kids are doing...hoping you are finding a way to live life without your Dad.  Please know that whether we connect on this web site or not....I promise to continue to pray for both of you...that you both may grow up to be the kind of person your father was.  I pray that you draw on his source of strength.  He was a very faith filled man and he showed all of us how to meet adversity with patience and grace.
I only know you through this site.  I am a cousin to the wife of one of your grandpa's friends.  Hindman and your grandpa have been long time friends and my cousin asked me to pray for Jimmy.  That began my journey with all of you......May God continue to especially bless both of you as your young lives unfold....and never forget from whence your father got his strength.

I know today was hard as well as the 1st of every holiday, birthday, any special event of this past year. Precious memories and longing to see such a beloved person as Jim Elliot will last forever.  You have reached a milestone in your journey.  May you draw closer and closer to the Lord as you continue to live life without this father, son, brother, and friend who would be very proud of your strength, courage, and faith.
