Hello All,
Time is flying by!
Where do I begin? I've made a lot of progress and victories lately! One my goals has been to get back to running. I've had a hard time with this and ususally could only get a few hundred feet before my left foot would drag and my legs give out. Then out of no where, I thought I would just set a lofty goal of a mile and ran two miles instead! Two miles- yahoooo! My mind and body finally created some new pathways and it jut clicked! My heart was just racing and couldn't believe it myself. Soon too I will be a "PT Grad" and no more physical therapy. Crazy to think, being it's been like a part-time job and big part of my recovery to say the least! Plus I will miss Lori and Jean, the best therapists ever!
I continue to set many goals. While in the hospital after my stroke, I set a lofty goal of riding by August. Not just the scooter though. I’m confident it is going to happen, maybe even sooner, and hoping my first ride may be on a Yamaha WR250X and my R6 later on!
I’m not sure what else the future holds for me as far as racing; not thinking too much about that for now. I’ve been pretty busy with the G Team, family life, CRA New Rider’s School at Brainerd, Race Coaching and running my Zalusky Advanced Riding School and Trackdays.
Everything happens for a reason and God had bigger plans for me. I’ve found my other calling! With the Young Adult Stroke Support Group and being a peer visitor, I feel like this is what God intended. I also put together a fun Mini-Moto for Stroke on May 31 and raised $500 for the Minnesota Stroke Association! It was so much fun having small pitbikes and dirtbikes flying around and crashing all while raising money!
Although I wouldn’t wish a stroke on anyone, it continues to bless me in many ways. I have really learned so much about myself and how precious life is. I have learned to appreciate things so much more and never try to take anything for granted and not sweat the small stuff. Whether it is a quiet moment sitting with my husband or just writing my name, I cherish everything.
I am so thankful for all the support I received from my husband, family, friends, fellow racers, fans and everyone for their support. I’ve been truly blessed and will be forever thankful.
I'm so excited, I will be going to Wisconsin for the AMA race at Road America, June 6-7, and look forward to seeing fans, friends and racers. It will be hard not racing there, as I've done since 2002, but I wouldn't miss it for anything!
Have a great day!
Jessica
