Jessica’s Story

Site created on December 5, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
On December 3rd, Jessica’s membranes ruptured - she was 23 weeks along in her 1st pregnancy. She was transferred to Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital in Chicago. Jessica and the baby were monitored closely for 7 weeks. On January 21st, an infection made it necessary for Jessica to deliver by c-section.  Jessica and Ben welcomed a 3lb baby girl named Lorelei Sandra to our family.  Lorelei has many congenital deformities and medical issues - none which were noted on any of Jessica’s prenatal exams or scans. Lorelei and her parents have  what will be a very long and sometimes difficult road ahead of them.  Lorelei has also brought us moments of immeasurable joy since her birth.  Please check out the daily journal updates for details and the gallery for pictures.  You also can access their GoFundMe Account through the “ways to help” icon.

Happy Mother's Day to all!!

Jessica and I have had a busy couple weeks since Lorelei's passing. We have had good days and bad days, but overall we are both doing well. I have spent a lot of time thinking and pondering on how can we thank people for the amazing amount of support and caring thoughts that we have received from across the country and there is no good way to make sure that we reach everyone that has supported us through this difficult time.

Last week we took a very nice relaxing cruise to the Western Caribbean on the Carnival Vista. It was a great time of relaxation and fun, but it also gave us time to think and decompress on the whole situation. We wanted to share this wonderful video that Regina (Gigi) made for the services. Its approximately 20 mins of pictures of Lorelei's life. We hope you enjoy it!

We know that she is always with us, and we cherish the time that we were able to spend with her while she was with us. Thanks again to everyone who helped us, supported us and prayed for us. It amazes me how many people regularly followed these posts, as well as people keeping up on other forms of social media. We love all of you!

This will be our last post on this site. Below is the link to the youtube video of lorelei!
