My Story

Our beautiful son, Jeremy, was born Oct. 11, 2007. Sadly, on Nov. 2, at 3 weeks old, Jeremy was diagnosed with brain cancer. After 9 surgeries, 2 rounds of chemo, & no cure for his cancer, Jeremy was considered terminal in January 2008. Yet, he is still fighting & not giving up.

I was hoping that I could be able to update today with news from the doctor, but you all know our luck...

Hem/Onc clinic is closed for the holiday. The only way to find out is to call the doctor on call. There are TONS of oncologists at Riley, and the chance of Dr. Pradhan being on call is slim to none. So, 3 more days of waiting...very impatiently...

We have quickly learned, if it's not one thing, it's another...

Jeremy still has a fever. It is coming down w/ Motrin or Tylenol. He was incredibly fussy last night when it was time to go to bed. He was perfectly content when I holding him, but the second I laid him down, he was mad. Since I can't sit up and hold him all night, he got a special treat of sleeping with Nana in the recliner. I know she loved that, and I bet he did too.

This morning Jeremy's soft spot is bulging. You'll remember this from our hospital stay in October of last year. It means one of two things:
1) There is too much fluid in his head and the shunt can't keep up with it
2) The shunt has malfunctioned....again...for the 5th time

Right now he doesn't seem to be uncomfortable or in any pain, so we will see how the day goes. I'm not trying to get too worked up about it, but that is easier said then done. We are keeping him elevated with the hope that it will drain.

I hope you all have a wonderful July 4th weekend. If anything happens, I will update.
Please keep us in your prayers throughout today and the weekend. We need his soft spot to go down, his fever to stay down, and patience (& sanity) as we wait for the results.
God Bless,
Allie
