Greetings from Orlando! It’s been awhile since we have shared much news about Jeff, as things have been progressing at a rather normal pace with continued therapy and daily living! He is attending a speech therapy program at the University of Central Florida 2x weekly which is going very well! He is also working out with a personal trainer who is a friend of ours in what is really more of a wellness program rather than physical therapy. I am currently exploring an aqua therapy program for him to help with loosening his hand for greater usage and mobility. This we think will also help with strengthening his right arm. We are very pleased with his progress...every day is a new day and new experiences are happening on a regular basis.
We hit a little bump in the road a few days ago. Tuesday morning Jeff had a seizure at home. We were very shocked and concerned with the length and severity of it. We took him to the ER immediately and learned that this is a very common possibility following a stroke. I had no idea this was common. The hospital team felt strongly that they should keep him overnight in case he should experience another one. He had all sorts of tests (CT Scan, MRI, MRA, EEG (brain wave measurement) and bloodwork as well.) All tests looked fine and it appeared there was no other activity in the brain to indicate another seizure was brewing. They have put him on some seizure medicine (Keppra) which should keep these under control. Please keep the prayers coming. We always need them.
Jeff is doing very well otherwise. His spirits are quite good most days and he is a guy you cannot keep down. He is so helpful around the house and loves to “putz.” He loves to feel productive and helpful and is motivated and engaged in everything he does. Some things never change. He has learned to say “its all good.” This is a tribute to his attitude and spirit. Please do keep him in your prayers...Our love and thanks to each and every one of you who have been so present in our lives these past months. It has meant so much to us...
Love, Kathy~ Jeff~ Cydney
