Greetings family and friends~ Greetings family and friends~
It has been awhile since we wrote, as many things seemed quite similar in nature as far as Jeff’s progress and healing. I am pleased to be writing today with some incredible progress notes that I hope you find as inspiring and exciting as I do. Jeff continues to get better…really better. He has not given up with his hard work and determination. Once he sees his own progress, it makes the next day more meaningful and motivating to continue. May people at this juncture in the journey have given up and settle for what they regained, rather than continuing to try. Insurance stops…progress is slower and less measurable and motivation wanes. Jeff is nowhere near finished getting better. I think he is more motivated today than ever before. His speech is coming back, he tries much harder (and is able) to produce many more words, he completely understands conversations around him, so is able to participate, even with limited verbal involvement, with unique ways of expression.. His therapists are VERY happy with his progress. He attends speech therapy 2x per week for 3 hrs at a time, which includes individual therapy one on one, group therapy with 2 others plus a computer class. He even has his own face book page created with the class!!! He also sees an occupational therapist 1x per week who is increadible! The time with him has really transformed his arm and hand. He is very loose (hand) and very strong (shoulder and arm. He has limited movement in his hand but his arm is great! He also works out with a personal trainer in the gym 2xper week and is getting in great shape!! A friend of mine takes him to swim 1x per week too, so he is really getting some diverse experience. He knows his full time job is to get better…and that, he is doing. God is doing wonderful things with him. He is also very involved with the Men’s club at Holy family. They continue to be a tremendous sense of support for him.
As Jeff’s improvement continued, we somewhat redefined our roles in our family. He has taken on a very active role in our home with helping to clean (yea!!:) which he loves to do and enjoys the satisfaction! He also works in the yard spraying weeds and trimming bushes. He planted all of our annuals this spring and continues to keep them refreshed. He is a great “putzer” and constantly is finding things to do around here. He is a very busy guy. Between his active therapy schedule and involvement around home, he wonders how he ever had time to work!! He also too has become very involved again with Cydneys swimming, continuing to act as her personal counter for some of her longer races. He loves to see his girl swim…
Jeff is happy, sees his improvement and hard work paying off and continues to be very motivated. Please continue to keep him in your prayers, as the road is still a long one and he is ready to travel…
Our love and best wishes to all of you…and thank your for your ongoing love and support.
God Bless
Kathy
