On September 22, 2012, JD Aylward got home from work, donned "wedding guest" attire, and left to attend the celebration.  After the reception, he and some friends stopped by the Munchbar in
Bellevue.

At 3:59 a.m. the police received a call of a "man down" -- JD was found unconscious, lying in a pool of his own blood in the middle of a street in Bellevue.

He was rushed to Harborview, where they immediately removed half his skull to alleviate some of the brain swelling, intubated him, hooked him up to EEG wires and IVs.

No one seems to know how he got to the location where he was found, or who he was with at the time, or who did this to him, although police detectives were quick to jump on the case, and it continues to be one of their top priorities.

JD is a sweet kid, a peacemaker, everybody's friend.  He has spent nearly 5 weeks in intensive and acute care at Harborview Medical Center, pushing through the pain and hurdles like the athlete he is.

He has recently been released from the hospital, but is under 24X7 care and will be returning for daily outpatient therapy for several months.. perhaps years.
