Hello Everyone~
We are home and I thought I would update you on the latest news. We did meet with Dr. Vaporciyan today. He was telling us that we are going to wait on surgery for now. We will rescan again in two months. August. Right after she gets back from Camp A-OK. She goes August 10th through the 15th.
Anyways, the reason why we are waiting is; He told us that he wants to make sure it really is cancer before going in to do this surgery. It's a more extensive surgery then what she has had in the past. He will have to remove one of her ribs and cut into the top and bottom of two other ones, so he can get to where the node is. They are not convinced it is a cancerous node at this time, it could be a scar. Or scar tissue. He says that when he did her first surgery he had to cut into the rib and shave some of it...when he did that it looks like the rib is poking into her lung or rubbing against it. The lung could of built up a scar; Every time she breathes it rubs and it could be that. Since it's a more extensive surgery they want to make a 100% sure that it is cancer because it is a little more complicated this time round.
I hope this helps everyone understand where we are at this time. They are not ruling out cancer and they are not ruling out scar; we need it to grow or make "friends" before we do another surgery of this extent. I do know that is has grown since the last scans done but we need to see that it is growing more. He did tell us that scars don't grow and tumors do, so we are really unsure at this time. We of course will let everyone know how things are going and where we are.
Take care and GOD BLESS you all.
