James Deere's Journal
Written Mar 6, 2014 6:29amIt has been a busy month for James & his family. His February Boston appointment was cancelled since it wasn't possible to have his access port removed as well as an MRI of his knee. As a result James has been rescheduled for these procedures in April. James had a vacation week during February which proved to be a challenging week. The week kicked off with no school the Friday before the vacation started due to a snowstorm. On Saturday James came down with a stomach virus for 24 hours. On Sunday James came down with a cold/Flu which lasted the entire week followed with Hope coming down with it. That same week there were no day nurses since both were on vacation that week. As a result Dad & I were the nurses for the week, it was very challenging but we made it. All things considered the kids were good & we survived. The return of the nurses was a very welcome sight especially since I have been sick since then. So as you can see it has been a very challenging month! Everyone seems to be fine now except that James was put on an antibiotic & now has Thrush but hopefully be over that soon. The weather has made for a very long Winter & we are all ready for the nice weather to arrive & finally get outside, something James really looks forward to. Despite all that has happened James is as always a very good & happy Little Man. Since I have been sick I have not seen James in nearly a week & hopefully will spend time with him today or tomorrow since I am feeling better.
Despite this past month's experience all is well & in order for this to continue as always please remember James in your prayers.
Written Feb 7, 2014 12:35pmI am afraid that I have been remiss in keeping Caring Bridge updated for James. The last update was before Christmas. Christmas was wonderful for both James & his baby sister Hope. Santa was very good to both of them & they loved it. James was very excited as any 7 year old would be, but I think what he enjoys most is being with his family. I think his favorite gifts were his I-pad & his Ugly Dog toy, which "farts" many different ways, it certainly made him laugh. Christmas came & went fast but James & Hope enjoyed it thoroughly! James had a Boston appointment last week, he saw the Ortho Dr., who expressed concern about his knee. We are going back to Boston in February so James can have his access port removed since it is no longer needed. Also during this trip James is to have an MRI of his knee to determine if his knee will require a corrective operation, we shall see. James also saw his Renal Dr. who was very happy with the status of his kidneys. She felt he was doing better than her anticipation, that is good. His Baclofen pump was also checked on this visit with a little tweaking occuring, it is still early but the tweaking seems to be helpful. In my opinion there is a significant improvement in James from the perspective of year over year, testimony that he is a tough "Little Man".
This will be an active month for James especially with another trip to Boston, however as always in order for this progress to continue he continues to need your prayers so please remember James in your prayers.
Written Dec 12, 2013 9:27pmNovember has been a good month for James. He loves birthdays enjoying his mom's, Hope's, & his cousins, he is definitely birthday'd out but happy. The finale to the birthdays was Thanksgiving, turkey day was most enjoyable with James, Hope, their mom & dad along with cousins, uncle Joe, friends & Mimi & Pop at their house. The most enjoyable holiday of the year where we all to share a feast & each others company, it doesn't get any better & James loved it.
His new aid started the beginning of December, which thus far seems to be going well, James likes Jess & it is his vote that counts. After making a trip to Boston his port used for blood draws was found to be operational however it has been decided that it will be removed sometime in the not distant future in order to avoid a potential problem. He continues to do well & as excited as any 7 year old awaiting Christmas. He is going on a horse & buggy ride this weekend to see the Christmas lights in the park in Albany followed by a trip on the Polar Express next week so as you can see he is quite busy. We are indeed blessed to have James, he brings much love into many lives. It is hard to believe this journey began 43 months ago. Much progress has been made but we still have a long way to go, so please remember James in your prayers.
