Written Dec 13, 2013 8:30pm by Toni HamoenHi everyone. It's Friday evening and I just finished watching a Gaither Christmas special on my computer. Very nice. The songs were beautiful, but one of the most inspiring messages came from a lady who was raped as a teenager just after she became a Christian. She took time to study the Bible and came to the conclusion that, although people may decide when to make love only God will decide when to make life, so there is no such thing as an illegitimate child. She gave the child up for adoption; she got married and adopted her husband's two children, wondering what happened to hers. She came to the conclusion that pain is inevitable and our life but that, with God, misery is optional. She later got a phone call from her birth daughter who tried to bring her to Christ over the phone (God's sense of humor again). And when she saw her daughter for the first time at a hotel the first thing her daughter did was bring her baby to her saying, "now go to your grandma". And so we see that whether here or here after God will turn our tears of sorrow into tears of joy. As you prepare for Christmas I'm sure many of you are looking forward to happy times together, although probably most of you will have some concerns for others in your family or circle of friends. I pray that God will see you through these times with his strength and the joy that he can put into your heart. My love to all of you, and wishing you all a Merry Christmas, Jake

Written Dec 12, 2013 1:29pm by Toni HamoenWe met with the wound Dr. on Monday and they told us to just let the wound heal on its own. That's good news because then we don't require any surgery or intrusion of any kind. It also means that I may be physically ready to go home in the spring.
The government wants us to go home but doesn't really provide enough care for a quadriplegic, so we have to figure out other ways to take care of me on a regular basis without draining our bank account.
We are getting some direction from our nurses at the hospital here and that may be the method that we will use to provide that care.
Thanks again to all of you who are supporting me with your prayers and comments and visits and...
Love to you all, Jake

Written Dec 8, 2013 2:32pm by Toni HamoenI'm keeping these journal updates short because of the unreliable Wi-Fi in this building.
Tomorrow I go to meet with the best wound Dr. in Ontario. My wound is progressing very well and if it continues like this I would be ready to come home when the tulips come up.
So our next battle is trying to get sufficient and reliable care for me when I get home. The government does not provide sufficient care so we will have to do some things on our own, and we are working on those plans at this time.
