My Story

Jacob Alexander is truly an angel in human form. After many hospitalizations, he was diagnosed with a very rare, life threatening disease. Thanks to our amazing "Angel Stranger", Jacob received his second chance at life on September 8, 2006, with a bone marrow transplant.

I can't believe it's  been almost 2 months since my last update!  Things are good here in Charleston, SC.  Busy!  Demitri graduated high school!!  Christian finished Kindergarten, and Jacob finished preschool!!!  What a crazy month it's been!  They are ALL growing way to fast...THANK GOD they have all been given the opportunity!!

Jacob continues on weekly SQIG infusions at home.  He tolerates the sticks really well (kudos to whomever invented Emla cream!).  We should be repeating his labs in the next few weeks here in Charleston to check his donor percentage.  He has remained pretty stable between 89-95% donor cells.  He is just like any other normal 5 year old little boy.  He plays hard and loves much!  We are truly blessed!!

I was looking through some pictures tonight and this one really stunned me.  I remember the night vividly.  Jacob was going to receive his special donor cells the next morning.  What stunned me tonight is the expression on his face.  I truly, truly believe that he is looking in the face of God, and God must be telling him that he is going to be just fine.  I'm sure God also told him of all of the wonderful things He has in store for Jacob's life!

I hope you all have a happy and safe July 4th weekend.  Please remember to donate blood and platelets.  And...if you haven't already, please consider joining the National Bone Marrow Registry.

Much love,

Wendy
